On September 27th, 2001, what must be considered a serious threat was made against the mug.  A note appeared, warning that if $200 was not produced within four days... the mug could be in mortal danger.  In fact, the mug could die.

Such threats are unacceptable.  One person, or perhaps several people, would like to see us change our ways, put away our giant red mugs, and accept a much different life.  Those people cannot prevail..

UPDATE: The first violation of mug sovereignty has already occurred.   Someone took the big red mug to an unknown location on Friday, September 28th.   Fortunately, the mug was safely returned several hours later.  Please, if you have any information that could lead us to this mugnapper, before he or she strikes again, contact us.

Be encouraged, though.  In the coming days, security measures will be taken... suspects will be sought out.  They may hide in caves (edit bays), in the wilderness (on assignment in Polk County), or seek cover in darkness (the control room).  But make no mistake... they will be found.

SUSPECTS:
